ASA-BV Courses

Business Valuation Education

ASA views its educational programs as a primary service to its membership and allied professional communities. As a full-service educating, testing, and accrediting professional association, it seeks to provide all necessary and appropriate professional continuing education for both early career and senior appraisers.

To accommodate increasingly knowledgeable and discerning clientele, appraisers need to develop a working mastery of basic and discipline-specific valuation theories and related field practices. ASA's education courses prepare them to remain competitive and in demand for their professional services. By fulfilling ASA's rigorous educational, professional and experience requirements, appraisers can become designated as Accredited Members or Accredited Senior Appraisers in the society. Once accredited, they must maintain a steady participation in a continuing education program to meet the society's mandatory reaccreditation requirements.

ASA provides educational opportunities for career appraisers, those interested in appraising and allied professionals through formal courses, continuing education seminars and special interest workshops and presentations, conducted at sites throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Mexico and Canada.

THE CENTER FOR ADVANCED VALUATION STUDIES (CAVS)

The Business Valuation Committee, through CAVS, has currently developed a series of seminars addressing advanced business valuation topics CAVS offers graduate level seminars for the advanced valuation practitioner and professionals in related fields. Seminars cover the most current valuation and financial theory, research and "best practices," developed according to the Harvard Business School model and written and taught by leading professionals and academics.

CAVS can best be described as a combination educational development organization and an appraisal think tank. Its near-term goal is to develop advanced level seminars that can be expected to raise the level of appraisal theory and understanding throughout the appraisal profession. Its longer-term goal is to form relationships with the other BV appraisal organizations that will allow joint development of education, joint research of appraisal theory, and other joint activities that benefit the profession.
