  • Yahoo!.
  • LookSmart.
  • CEO Express. Provides a web directory as well as the ability to search up to 8 search engines at once.
  • FindArticles.com. Not as extensive as some others listed, but with 300 publications indexed, it is still a good resource for free articles.
  • ingenta (formerly Carl Uncover). Provides a free online search service of more than 25,932 periodicals. Some articles may be available free, though most are pay-per-view. Based in the U.K.

  • Valuation Resources. This superb site, developed by Jerry Peters (CPA, ASA, ABV, CBA), provides links to a variety of business appraisal resources, including economic and industry sources, public company information, transaction data, legal and tax resources, and more.
  • Intellectual Property Sites of Interest. This list of directories and sites was compiled by The Financial Valuation Group during the research into intellectual property transactions and the development of the firm's Intellectual Property Transaction Database.

Interest Rate Resources

  • Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. Access statistical releases covering current and historical interest and exchange rates, including the weekly H.15 Interest Rate Release.
  • Bureau of Public Debt. Offers general information about public debt instruments including savings bonds, Treasury bills, notes, and bonds.
  • BankRate.com. Provides interest rates for mortgages, home equity loans, savings, credit cards, and checking accounts. Information on national trends and statistics is also included.
  • Money-Rates.com. Current data for key interest rates, mortgage rates, savings rates, as well as economic indicators.
  • Grant's Interest Rate Observer. An independent voice on the subjects of credit, interest rates, the bond markets, commodities, real estate, and monetary trends. Annual subscriptions are $725, but individual articles may be purchased for $10 each.
  • Bank of Canada. Historical Canadian dollar based interest rates.

  • EDGAR Online. Fee-based service which provides buisness, financial and competitive information derived from U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) data
  • FreeRealTime. Free beta information.
  • Global Reports (formerly Annual Reports Library). Fee-based service which has a catalog of over 500,000 annual reports stretching more than 30 years into financial history. Reports may be requested online, at a cost of $25 per domestic annual report, and $35 per international annual report.

Executive Compensation Surveys

  • Abbott, Langer & Associates. Provides free summary data as well as complete reports for purchase.
  • Global Securities. LivEdgar, a fee-based service, allows users to search the EDGAR database by name, SIC codes, state, data, and keyword.
  • eComp Executive Compensation Database. Available from Joint Information or via the Edgar Online site. Searchable by company name, ticker, Market Guide sector, or industry classification.
  • ERI's Executive Compensation Assessor. Compensation Assessor assists with precise evaluations of market pay and executive salaries and is the only source of its kind that analyzes data compiled from all publicly available executive compensation surveys.

  • AgriSeek.com. Marketplace to aid those in the agricultural field in buying and selling tractors, land, seeds, farming related merchandise, as well as livestock, farming related jobs, animal products, agrochemicals and a wide range of services.
  • AgricultureLaw.com . A web site established to provide farmers and ranchers with a complete source for agricultural news and information. It contains one of the most comprehensive Link Indexes for information on agriculture.

General Information Sites

  • Business Valuation Sites. This list, developed by Dr. Donald Shannon at the DePaul University Graduate School of Business, is organized by a variety of topics for economic information, stock market information, and specific company information, for U.S. and international data.
  • Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV). A nonprofit professional Institute established in 1971 to promote high standards in business and securities valuation.
  • Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED). Developed by the FRB of St. Louis, FRED provides economic and financial data including daily U.S. interest rates, monetary and business indicators, exchange rates, and regional economic data.
  • Yahoo!Finance. Historical stock quotes, available on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Institute of Management and Administration (IOMA). Features a Salary Survey of the month in the Salary Zone section, which is taken from the IOMA's Report on Salary Surveys. Links are provided to data sources, as well as purchasing information.
  • Search Systems (Pacific Information Resources). Contains a directory of over 4,554 free searchable public record databases, organized by state.
  • Britannica. Based on the complete and updated 'Encyclopaedia Britannica', this site provides easy access on an array of subjects.
  • FreeTranslation.com. Translates text from English to French, German, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, and Portugues, and from those languages to English.
  • Infoplease.com. An atlas, encyclopedia, almanac, and dictionary all in one.
  • Economic Research Institute. ERI provides national and international compensation laws and practices. This site contains laws, codes, international practices, and definitions for compensation and benefit terms.
